RevCrunch review site … reviewed!

What have we done! Well, who else to put for a first review other than ourselves.

Why?

Well, we can start by being our own worst critics! No, we’re not that bad. In fact ReCrunch looks kinda nice, don’t you think? Okay, maybe some tweaks here and there but not bad for a start-up.

The Review:

Let’s look at some factors and give RevCrunch some ratings out of 5. We can individually tailor our rating system based on the type of site we are reviewing. For example RevCrunch isn’t really a travel blog nor travel website (we just review ‘em), but for the sake of argument we’ll throw ourselves into Travel Website category for this review.

Based on each category the reviewer then has to do some math and churn out an overall “Author Rating”

Readers who comment also have their votes shown next to the Authors vote just to be fair.

RevCrunch Content:

Ouch, there’s not much there! Not even one post. Sorry guys, that’s a big ol zero!

RevCrunch Design:

RevCrunch

Now we’re talking! Not bad, looks different to most without being too alienated. Highlights include:

  • Easy to navigate
  • User voting
  • Nice widgets to see RevCrunch vs Reader Voting!

Erm, guys? There’s not a single photo? Zero

Style of writing

Okay this is how we mash things up here on ReCrunch reviews. There’s a team. I’m the editor (AKA Boss), and then there’s Eric, Sandra, MC and Justin. They’re the people who keep throwing stuff at me. Like erm, reviews. Yep, they’ll be writing up reviews based on their own individual opinions.

When the review is done & they’ve marked out their ratings it’s given to me for proofing and we have group vote then publish.

After that it’s over to the reader to vote and have their opinion heard.

Continuity

Conta … who? Continuity. Yep, this means we give a rating based on the a websites ability to link things together in a sensible manner. Confused … Don’t be here’s an example. Someone publishes two posts about traveling Bosnia and then on the 3rd writes about pretty things in Denmark and then on the 4th is back to Bosnia. Hello? What happened? Did you hop over for a weekend and forget to tell us?

Here’s another example. Blogger writing a wonderful series on traveling through India then suddenly moves to China without tell their readership why … annoying eh?

Wrap up

We’ll wrap up with an authors final thoughts on the site being reviewed. Conclusions and whatever else they want to add. Each authors pretty much got their own style. It’s the luck of the draw on who reviews what. But this is where we’ll conclude things.

Oh, yea. This is also where our team rating comes in. Keeps the authors in check!

And finally if I personally think a website is good I’ll mark it as an Editors Choice

That’s all folks … how’d we score? Best not to ask I’m pretty harsh at reviews and promise that I purposely sabotaged this one so it will disappear into the night as far better travel blog and website content is featured!
